Abstract:
Tool for stress corrosion testing, characterized by being adapted for fracture toughness specimens and mechanical testing specimens, submerged horizontally in a corrosive environment and coupled to a universal testing machine in a vertical arrangement. The tool solves the technical problem of conducting stress corrosion tests with specimens in a horizontal arrangement when only vertical universal testing machines are available. The tool is characterized by the following elements: testing machine coupling, upper shaft, two arms arranged similarly to a compass, two lower shafts, two C-shaped bars, four bearings, two guides containing tracks for the bearings, and threaded rods suitable for connection with the pins required in fracture toughness tests under stress corrosion conditions.
