Apparatus and procedure for measuring strain in a tensile test

Abstract:

Apparatus for measuring the tensile strain of a specimen, comprising: an articulated arm configured to be fixed to a testing machine, where said articulated arm comprises at least two rigid sections, and anchoring means; a guide mounted on one end of the second section of the articulated arm. Mounted on said guide are two U-shaped frames, where each of said frames carries a respective optical sensor, each of which is capable of moving along said guide; where a specimen is housed inside the “U” of said supports, including two targets attachable to said specimen, said targets being configured to measure the strain of said specimen by measuring the displacement of said targets via said optical sensors.
