Abstract:
The present invention relates to a measuring system capable of determining the perimeter variation undergone by a specific section of a specimen during mechanical characterization tests of materials. The designed measuring system is based on winding a wire around the section of the specimen for which the perimeter evolution is to be determined. To ensure intimate contact between the specimen and the wire, a specific tension, $T$, must be applied to its free ends. Thus, the separation of the free ends of the wire, $D1$, constitutes the perimeter variation of the analyzed section.
