Abstract:
Method for measuring the gas permeability of a material, comprising the steps of: preparing a specimen of a material whose gas permeability is to be measured; placing said specimen in a device configured to keep its side faces sealed; connecting at least one gas storage medium to the end of the specimen through which the gas enters; connecting a flowmeter to the end of the specimen through which the gas exits; connecting the output of a mass flow detector included in the flowmeter to data conversion means connected to a computer; selecting at least three inlet pressure values on a regulator-manometer; for each inlet pressure, taking with the flowmeter at least one measurement of the flow rate passing through the specimen, and obtaining the permeability coefficient K, by substituting the average flow rate value into Darcy’s equation; obtaining the permeability coefficient of the specimen from the average value of the permeability coefficients K.
