Mortars and Concrete
The concrete and mortar research lines focus into the knowledge of:
Design and characterization of recycled aggregate concrete.
Use of steel slag as aggregate for the manufacture of recycled mortar and concrete.
New active additions complementary to common cements.
Self-compacting high resistance concrete (over 100 MPa).
Microstructural characterization of concrete and mortar using SEM and CT techniques.
Design of new methodologies for the characterization of concrete, both, in the fresh state (workability) and in the hardened state (permeability).
Fatigue characterization of concrete, including high frequencies behavior (100 Hz).
Durability studies, analyzing concrete response to: freeze-thaw cycles, drying-wetting cycles, accelerated carbonation or marine environments.
