Head of Concrete (Laboratory)

Pablo Tamayo Castañeda holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Cantabria (2021), with a dissertation titled High-Density Eco-Friendly Concrete for Radiological Applications, awarded Summa Cum Laude. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering (2017) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Resources Engineering (2014), both from the same university.
Since 2017, he has been working as a research staff member at the University of Cantabria, participating in numerous national and international projects related to the characterization and development of new materials for industrial applications, particularly in the fields of sustainability and radiological protection. His responsibilities include conducting experimental tests, coordinating projects, preparing reports, and collaborating in teaching activities.
He has participated in projects funded by institutions such as the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, MINECO, the Department of Universities of the Government of Cantabria, and European programs such as FEDER. His research experience includes involvement in flagship projects such as SOLECOM, focused on nuclear fuel containers, and the development of high-performance eco-friendly concretes.
He also has international experience, notably a research stay at the Lisbon Technical Institute in 2019 through the Erasmus+ program. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and actively participates in scientific outreach activities.
