Ana Isabel Cimentada Hernández holds a degree in Civil Engineering (Roads, Canals, and Ports) from the University of Cantabria (2004) and a PhD from the same university (2009), with a thesis titled Experimental Analysis in a Reduced Model of Radial Consolidation and Deformation of Soft Soil Improved with Gravel Columns, awarded Outstanding Cum Laude.

She is currently the Microstructural Laboratory Manager at LADICIM, a position she has held since June 2017. In this role, she fully manages the laboratory and coordinates the services of optical microscopy, electron microscopy, and computed axial tomography. Additionally, she performs microstructural analyses of samples and prepares the corresponding technical reports. She has also been an associate professor at the Gimbernat-Cantabria School from September 2017 until July 2024.

Her professional career includes over eight years at TRIAX, S.A., where she served as Technical Director of the Laboratory, Head of the R&D&I Department, and Geotechnical Specialist Engineer. In these roles, she managed teams, coordinated research projects, and conducted specialized geotechnical studies.

Her research activity focuses on ground improvement treatments, waste valorization, and microstructural analysis of materials. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects and completed a research stay at the Centre for Innovation and Technology in Composites at the Federal University of Sao Joao del Rei (Brazil).
